So for those of you who haven’t heard because of Twitter destroying social media networks everywhere by being down, McFly have moved their first three tour dates to the end of the tour due to illnesses. I would repost their official statement but Twitter is down so no can do! So to anyone going to those three dates, hopefully you can still make the show and have a fantastic time.
*You do not have to read if you don’t want to hear the rambles of a disappointed and slightly emotional crazy McFly fan*
So some of you may know I was going to England to see McFly for the first time at their first show at Nottingham. It was going to be during my spring break and was the perfect time to see them. Plus, I (like many of you) was tired of hoping and waiting that they would come here. I had been saving up money for this trip since November and and all the flights and hotels set.
So imagine my surprise when I wake up and think “Yes two more weeks till McFly” I get a tweet saying the first three days are going to be moved to the end of tour. Before I even realized it…tears were falling. I want to say I understand that you have to cancel a tour because of illnesses, seriously I want them to be healthy. But from the way they’ve made it sound, they are just sick with something like the flu or some stomach virus that knocks you out for a week.
Now I’m a concert junkie…its what I do and love. I’ve been to shows where members of the band have been hospitalized 4 days before a show and they still get better or better enough to play a show. So for them to cancel two weeks early just really kills me. Why not wait a week and see if they still are dying…then I’d be a bit more okay with it.
And I know people are going to say, its for their health, you don’t want them to hurt themselves just so you can see them. And my response to that is, you’re absolutely correct I would never want McFly to risk their health for me, but it doesn’t negate the fact that once again I’m stuck waiting for them to finally just man up and get over their fear about failing here in the US and just do a tour.
And while I know some will say, they’ve announced they’ll be playing here sometime in 2011 (you can read previous post to see how I feel about that) or that I’ve waited this long…waiting a little longer wont hurt. And again…I understand your point. I’ve waited 7+ years to see them…and another year or two probably won’t kill me. But the part that does kill me is that for once I did everything right. I didn’t wait around for them to come play here in my country. I manned up and said “Screw it, I’m going to them” and I did and now out of all the tour dates to possibly get moved…it’s mine. IDK…I think I need a break from McFly…because this is turning into a Jonas Brothers experience and honestly…I can’t deal with another one of those right now.
